NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, our own Jaime Miracle sat down with Elizabeth Brown, Executive Director of the Women’s Public Policy Network.
They discussed a provision in the state budget that uses taxpayer funding to operate fake women’s health centers.
That’s right, your tax dollars are funding deceptive, anti-choice health clinics, sometimes known as "Crisis Pregnancy Centers."
These groups are infamous for giving misleading and medically-inaccurate information to pregnant patients seeking care.

Talking about Title X with Planned Parenthood
Thursday Sep 19, 2019
Thursday Sep 19, 2019
NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Gabe is joined by Lauren and Sierra from Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio!
Following a national decision by Planned Parenthood affiliates to withdraw from Title X (the federal family planning funding source), health centers are starting to inform patients what it will mean as sources of funding are gone.
In Ohio, we're seeing some of the first major consequences as Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region closed two community health centers in the Cincinnati area. The changes to Title X are unrelated to the availability of government funding, but actually an intended negative outcome from the Trump/Pence agenda attacking Planned Parenthood.

NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Kelley is joined by returning guests Claressa and Michelle, who are collectively known as Feminist Flag Corps. The pair of super-activists just wrapped a jam packed summer that included attending the week-long Garbage Fyre Fest, sponsored by Abortion AF, and also Michelle's protest inside the Cincinnati Trump rally where she and her colleagues held up Donald's speech by displaying a banner reading "Chinga la Migra."
After recording the podcast, the trio hopped in a packed car to rush down to Cincinnati to rally in support of Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio. The PPSWO affiliate is having to close two health care centers (not abortion clinics) this month because of the Trump gag rule on Title X providers.

NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Kelley and Gabe are again joined by Elaina Ramsey, from the Ohio Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. Elaina spent the weekend with 130 of her closest friends showing the Westboro Baptist Church they support their pastor, who just happens to be a woman: Rev. Virginia Lohmann Bauman. Elaina's church, St. John's UCC, was targeted by the baddies from Westboro... all six of them.

NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Kelley, Gabe, and Elaina talk about the recent decision by the Ohio Supreme Court to drop the appeal from Women's Med Center. That case was one part in the clinic's fight to stay open in the face of political attacks from Gov. Mike DeWine.
We also looked at the choice by Planned Parenthood to withdraw from federal Title X family planning funding because of an unacceptable gag rule from the Trump administration.

Friday Aug 09, 2019
NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Kelley and Gabe talk with hilarious Columbus comedian Brooke Cartus!
Brooke was a part of this week's Stand Up for Choice show, a comedy series that has raised funds for Ohio organizations working for reproductive freedom. Tuesday's show raised $1,300 for ACLU Ohio, and brought the series total to over $15,000! The series was started by Pat Deering and Amber Falter, and this was Amber's last show before she moves to Canada.
We're so grateful for everything Amber has done for the pro-choice movement!
You can find comedy recordings from Brooke at http://brookecartus.com/

NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Kelley, Jaime, and Gabe put a wrap on the 2019 Ohio state operating budget. We were disgusted to see that Gov. DeWine did not use a line item veto to remove the $7,500,000 allocation for fake women's health centers.
Ohio House Minority Leader Emilia Sykes addressed the funds: https://youtu.be/K5oOg0NG5oI
In separate crisis pregnancy center news, Rep. Jena Powell and Rep. Tim Ginter are proposing a 50% refundable tax credit for donations to fake women's health centers.
Butler County Democrats objected to Rep. Candice Keller supporting the #KellerKickback bill, and she has since announced she will abstain because of her conflict of interest.
In other news, Kelley has been leading a great campaign to call on Premier Health to sign a transfer agreement with Women's Med Center. Send an email to Premier Health to join to campaign! https://act1.myngp.com/Forms/-1208935024972267520

Talking post-abortion snacks with Michelle Love-Davis and Jordyn Close

Friday Jun 14, 2019
NARAL’s The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week… oh, what have we done? We handed the podcast over to Kelley, who interviewed two of our most… boisterous… supporters. She is joined by Michelle Love-Davis, who co-founded Feminist Flag Corps and currently reps WomenHaveOptions.org; and Jordyn Close, who came from WeTestify.org and now organizes for URGE: Unite for Reproductive and Gender Equity.
These are three fun women who aren’t afraid to get loud in support of abortion rights, even if it means getting in the face of anti-abortion protesters at events and at clinics all across the country.
Note from Gabe: Yes, Michelle, they did bring the Duggars — all of them — to the Ohio Statehouse to promote the “Heartbeat Bill” in 2013. I was in the room. OhioCapitalBlog has the video on his YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/qbk7RVjyxfU

Talking with Pamela Merritt from ReproAction
Thursday Jun 06, 2019
Thursday Jun 06, 2019
NARAL's The Morning After is a production of NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio.
This week, Gabe talked to one his first friends in the reproductive rights movement: Pamela Merritt. Along with Erin Matson, Pamela is a co-founder at ReproAction — a national organization working to increase access to abortion and advance reproductive justice.
Pamela is based out of Missouri, which has just one remaining abortion clinic: Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region. The governor has been trying to close that clinic by refusing to renew their license. While Planned Parenthood's legal team is fighting to keep the clinic open, ReproAction is busy lifting up the voices of people in that state who desperately need abortion care.
